Shooting while jumping for instance, this is not possible in Captain Planet. You can not combine certain actions, which are a normality in pretty much every other platformer. The thing which I disliked the most is the playability.

And that makes me believe the cartoon must have been something like this translation to the Amiga. I don't think I thought it was very cool, otherwise it would be more familiar to me. I remember Captain Planet vaguely as a cartoon I used to see on television when I was a kid. This game certainly appealed to me in my childhood but mainly because I was a big fan of the cartoon. Then again, even with todays 'tie-in' games its generally about getting them out quickly and selling copies before anyone notices how bad the game is. Really let down but the poor gameplay and the rushed feel to the game, almost feels unfinished and could have done with a lot more testing and polishing. Each character powers are very close to the cartoon (apart from Heart maybe, what was that all about?) and the music is quite funky in places, most of this games score comes from sticking so close to its source material.
#MR PLANET PLUS#
On the plus side, yes, a plus side, the cartoon element to the game is almost spot on, the character design and drawings are very well done and the graphics themselves aren't too bad, colourful to say the least. Riddled with what I can only describe as bugs, rubbish collision detection and in some cases complete lack of character (especially the vehicles) control making for frustrating gameplay and plenty of dying. Average platformer, pretty short too which doesn't help its case.
